Sarah Says: This Colour Changing Candle is Very Cool. | Colour Me …

May 20th, 2012

So a guy drops a candle off at my door to review and I’m thinking “right, a candle… this better be awesome”… and it is! I love it!

The new Ambi Pur Multi Colour Candle subtly changes colour to create a fascinating and tranquil light effect in your home. To complement the soft, rainbow effect, the candle is infused with essential oils and is available in two fragrances – Precious Silk and Oriental Orchids, and Rich Vanilla and Caramel Swirl.

The candle would be perfect to light up a dark room during an indulgent bubble bath or romantic dinner. Grab several and they could make pretty colour-changing lanterns on your table for a dinner party or just add one to your night-time routine with a book or your favourite TV show. They smell divine and the scent is still lingering now – the next day, several hours later. In fact I can not only smell it in the living room where I had placed it, but all throughout the house. I can’t help but think these candles would be great at Christmas time as you place the cookies and milk by the fireplace for Santa or even just as a magical thing to do with your kids while you read them a bedtime story in the dark. The possibilities are endless…. loving this candle!

Air Wick Multi Colour candles in Precious Silk and Oriental Orchids, and Rich Vanilla and Caramel Swirl are available now from all leading supermarkets for $9.99 RRP.

Michael Jackson: And Justice for Some: Light-A-Candle

    May 14th, 2012

Tonight I went to the online site Gratefulness.org to light a candle for Aaron.  After I lit it, I noticed that there were a number of candles lit for “MJ”.  I decided to click on them, to see who these candles were lit for.  Here are a few of the things people had to say:

From Italy: A star never dies

From Germany: Thank God for this *ANGEL*.  Michael has shown us what is about humanity, please protect him and his wonderful children.

Messages from all over the world pour out in grief for the loss of Michael Jackson from this world.  We love you Michael, and we wish you were here with us.

Just Us Four: Fancy Up Your Candles

    May 14th, 2012
For Teacher Appreciation week, I had to come up with some creative ideas for E’s teachers because we aren’t allowed to take outside food into the school.

One day, we decorated small candles for E to give to his teachers.  (poor little E was sick for a lot of the week so he didn’t end up getting to help with this project)

Check out some of our supplies

We used washi tape, fabric tape and paint to decorate the different candles (total of 4).
H was helping me so she got to choose how each one was decorated.

Once she got tired of the washi tape, we moved on and decided to stencil the last candle which would be given to E’s core teacher.
We used the Martha Steweart adhesive stencils which made it really easy even on the curved surface.

t was the evolution in the history of candles during the ages?,Cheap Lebron 9 China

The introduction of beeswax in the history of candles was in the Middle Ages,Electrolime Foamposite, this wax was extremely expensive and only the rich could afford it,Lebron 9 China, the new advantage that beeswax brought was that the candle burned very cleanly when compared to tallow candles. This new candles were preferred by the church that quickly adopted them and they are still used today.

When the first colonials settled in America they found by accident that boiling grayish green berries resulted in a kind of wax that is similar to beeswax and doesn’t smell when it burns. This new opportunity didn’t have the effect everyone hoped for because the process was very long and expensive, so this just remains as a step in the history of candles.

In the 18th century the walling industry brought another solution for candle makers,Jordan 12, the spermaceti was used to obtain a wax that didn’t release any unpleasant smell when burned. The history of candles was seriously changed in the 19th century when the first machine that produced candles automatically appeared, in 1850 paraffin was discovered, it is a product obtain from petroleum residues.
